Chapter 1
“I hate boys!” I declared as I scooped another scoop of ice cream. “Tell me about it!” Masha replied while she put in Never Been Kissed into the VHS slot. “Last time I had a boyfriend, he cheated on me with Leslie!” Masha added as she backed away from the television screen. “Ughh I hate Leslie, she is so cruel to people.” I said “She really needs to calm herself and stop stealing everyone’s boyfriends.” Ashley added as she passed me the bowl of popcorn. “Shhh… the movie is starting!” Kavya said in a whisper. It was Friday night and I just got stood up by Kyle and I invited my friends over to have a sleepover filled with food, romantic comedies, and tons of talking. Masha and I have been friends since preschool, we do everything together. We met Kavya and Ashley when we started high school and have been friends since then. These kinds of sleepovers were usual for us girls, since we don’t have any luck when it came to the romance department. After the movie we went downstairs to make pancakes, it was five in the morning so technically it was breakfast time. We ate and went upstairs to go to bed. As we were lying in bed Kavya asked “What are we doing tomorrow?” “I mean today?” “How about going to the mall?” Masha asked. “Nah, I’m broke.” I replied. “I got it!” Ashley said in a very loud voice. “Let’s go to Oakland and watch pretty college boys.” “Their fall break hasn’t started yet!” Ashley said even louder. “I’m game.” I quickly said and a moment later we were all asleep.
“I have had it with females!” I said angrily as I picked out a DVD for us to watch. “You’ll find someone else, mate.” Harry replied. “Your princess is on her way Louis!” Niall said in his positive attitude. “I can’t believe Francine said no when I asked her out.” “She wasn’t meant for you, plus she was kind of rude anyway.” Zayn said as he opened the bag of Skittles. “Louis, listen to me!” Liam said and when Liam said “Listen to me” that meant he was ready to give you a huge speech. We all sat down and looked at Liam. “There are many girls out in the world.” “We are a boyband many of them love us, I’m not positive you will find “the one”, but you will find someone.” “Now stop worrying Louis, you are a good looking, young, wonderful boy and you will meet someone else soon.” Liam finished his speech and Harry turned on the television. We spent the rest of the night watching Jurassic Park and talking about girls.
Chapter 2
“Rise and shine!” Kavya yelled at the top of her lungs and she threw pillows at the rest of us. “Let’s get ready to look at pretty college boys.” She said as she walked out the door to go to the bathroom. “I’m going to text Emilie to see if she wants to come.” Ashley said as she reached for her phone. I started getting out of bed and went to my closet. I pulled out my Roethlisberger jersey and a pair of skinny jeans and headed downstairs to grab some snacks. I brought the snacks up and we all ate as we got dressed. I brushed my teeth, braided my hair and put on my red converse and was ready to go, but the others weren’t so I turned on an episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. and watched it as others put on make-up and jewelry. Once we were all ready we got into my grandpa’s car and he drove us to Oakland.
“I heard there is this great place called Crepes!” yelled Niall so loud which caused us to wake up. “Fine, we will eat there.” Liam replied as he rubbed his eyes. “Where is it located?” I asked curiously. “Some place called Oakland.” replied Niall as he flipped through the Pittsburgh Tour Guide booklet. “Maybe we will see some cute girls, I heard a lot of students go there to hang out.” Harry said jumping out of his bed and rushing to the bathroom. “Well smart students.” said Niall. “There are a lot of museums there along with a library and a bookstore.” Niall continued. “Well there is nothing wrong with a girl who can hold a conversation!” I said excitedly. We got ready and were on our way to Oakland.
Chapter 3
“I love it here so much!” I said as I ate my Pittsburgh Popcorn. “The Carnegie Museum of Natural History is one of my favorite places in the world.” I continued as I stuffed my mouth with my Nutella drizzled popcorn. “Rachel we know this already!” Masha said while drinking her Starbucks. “How many times have you made us go there with you?” Ashley asked in a mocking way. “Guys settle down!” “Emilie is here!” Emilie got out of the car and greeted us. We went to Rita’s and got some Italian Ices and headed back down to the University of Pittsburgh. “I can’t believe I’m going to be going here in a couple of years.” I said in a nervous tone as I looked up at the tall building. “Don’t think about that now.” Masha said while she changed her current song to Eight Days a Week by the Beatles. “Cute boys alert!” Ashley and Emilie said in unison. We all turned our heads and saw five wonderful boys.
“Look at those girls.” Zayn said pointing to the five girls standing near Pitt University. “How about we get to know them a bit better?” Harry replied as he started running towards the girls. Liam caught Harry’s coat and pulled him back “Hold on.” “You can’t just go running up to strange girls Harry.” “It’s not polite and they could be dangerous.” Liam continued staring into Harry’s eyes making sure Harry got the message. “How about we walk up to them and ask them where the crepe place is?” I offered with an innocent smile on his face. “That is something we can do.” Liam said calmly letting go of Harry’s shirt. We all started walking towards the girls.
Chapter 4
“Okay they are coming towards us.” I started panicking. “Act normal!” Ashley told us quickly. Masha put in her other headphone to listen to her music. Ashley whipped out her phone to make it look like she was texting; Emilie continued to focus on her Rita’s and Kavya was tying her shoe. Then there was me. I didn’t have an idea what to do so I just stood there. “Great!” I thought. “I’m just a weirdo standing all by myself.” “That’s cool.” They walked up and split up. I guess they already had a girl in mind. The tall, brown-haired boy came up to me and introduced himself as Louis. His accent was to die for! He told me that he and the boys have a concert here tonight and they were touring the city. I automatically went into Pittsburgh pride mode. “Okay, so go to Downtown and see the Consol Energy center and Heinz field, oh and the Science Center.” “This museum behind me is my favorite place in the world it’s the Natural History Museum.” “That over there is my future college University of Pittsburgh.” “Stop by Primanti’s to grab some real Pittsburgh grub and their pop is cheap.” “I live in Squirrel Hill it’s where all the Jews live.” “Visit the Strip District…” and then I saw the look on his face and stopped. Masha saved me by telling him that the Strip District is a street in Pittsburgh where merchants sell things and there are cool things to see including the huge costume store open all year round. She left and then I noticed his face went back to normal. “Sorry, I kinda really love my city.” I said shyly and he replied “I think it’s cute.” Ashley came up to me with the blonde boy and said that Niall (must be his name) is hungry and the boys haven’t eaten yet. We all rejoined and met each other and walked to Crepes. I told Louis on the way that Crepes was run by college students and it is only open on the weekends when the students don’t have school so it wasn’t possible to go there today. Louis told the boys and Niall seemed very upset but Ashley cheered him up. Louis turned to me and asked me “Didn’t you say there was a place called Primonti’s?” “Primanti’s and yes its a couple streets away from us.” I replied giggling. We all headed to Primanti’s and I thought to myself “This is gonna be a great day.”
We stuffed ourselves with our huge sandwiches and the boys asked us if there were any parks they could visit. I told them the directions to Schenley and they thanked us. After an awkward moment of silence which seemed like forever Emilie said “See you later.” and we followed her towards the Carnegie Library. Suddenly, someone grabbed my arm. I stopped and turned around. Louis let go of my arm and asked me if my friends and I would like to join him and the boys. I looked back at my friends and they all nodded their heads simultaneously. We all walked to Schenley as the sun hid behind some clouds. As we walked we talked about the places we were from. There was a slight breeze that made Masha and I chill at the same time. And not a moment too soon Zayn and Louis offered us their jackets. I looked at Masha she looked pretty awesome in that varsity jacket. I then gazed over to Harry and Emilie who were hitting it off quite well. Kavya was trying to explain something Liam who looked very confused, while Ashley and Niall were laughing about something that made no sense. Zayn glanced over at Kavya a couple times, but I knew that was never going to happen. You see Kavya is in a relationship with this boy that looks exactly like a young Jordan Knight. They have been together for a year now and there was no way Zayn would get her.
Chapter 5
“Mate, look how gorgeous she is.” whispered Zayn. He had developed this crush on Kavya and to tell you the truth it was quite pathetic. Rachel told me about Kavya and her boyfriend and I knew Zayn wouldn’t be able to break that up, plus he had Masha! I saw Rachel at the corner of my eye smiling as she stepped on the crunchy leaves. She is such a child, I love it. I glanced over to take a look at the guys and they all seemed fine. I didn’t know that a trip to Pittsburgh would change my life for the better. We finally got to the park and Rachel grabbed my hand and we ran to the swings. I waited till she sat down and I started to push her. I by accident pushed her too hard and she fell off the swing. She was lying on the ground and I ran up to her. She sat up touched my arm and said “Tag, you’re it!” and she bolted off. I chased after her and I ended up running after her through this tunnel and up some path. Finally, I caught up and we both sat down on this small stone wall. She told me about her love for her home and how she misses it a lot when she goes back to boarding school. She told me the story about riding her bike with her father on this trail and how she used to play at this park all the time when she was little. She kept telling me about these wonderful memories that she had and it touched me. There is a reason she loved this city more than anything it else and that reason is that she had so many memories attached to it. She got up and started walking back to the others and something happened inside of me. Maybe it was her memories echoing in my head or the way her brown hair shined when the sun came out from the clouds, whatever it was it took control. I caught up with her spun her around and kissed her.
What just happened? I thought to myself. Louis just kissed me. What in the world? Why? What? Okay I can’t even think! Stare into his eyes so he doesn’t think I hated it, because I didn’t. I loved it actually, his lips are perfect… absolutely perfect. Maybe I should ask him why he did that. “Louis, may I ask why you did that?” I sort of mumbled. “Well… it’s because I like you. A lot.” He replied blushing. “I like you too.” I said then I kissed him on the cheek, took his hand, and we headed back to the park.
I am so glad she accepted my kiss and that she liked me, but I have to leave in a couple days, but I can’t live without her. I think she might be “The One”. It’s crazy that I think that, but I think it’s one of those love at first sight things. Just look at her! She is so innocent and sweet. Fall is so beautiful here in Pittsburgh no wonder it’s her favorite season. I wish I could just watch her forever, but she probably wouldn’t let me. I need to do something special for her, but what should I do? I’ll ask the guys when I get back.
Chapter 7
Everyone were already waiting for Louis and I. They are going to figure out why we were late. I can’t keep secrets for my life. All of this is too much for me! I just had my first kiss and he has to leave in a couple of days, what am I going to do? I suddenly got really sad and Louis noticed my hand slip out of his. “What’s wrong?” He asked me. I looked at the ground because I wouldn’t be able to contain myself if I looked into his gorgeous blue eyes. “You are leaving soon and I’m going to be all alone.” I managed to say holding back my tears. “It’s really silly but I love you and you mean the world to me. I didn’t expect to have my first kiss with someone who was leaving in a few days.” I said looking up at him. “Sweetheart, I will figure something out. Please don’t be sad, I don’t want you to be sad.” He replied as he pushed back my side bangs behind my ear. “You complete me.” He whispered into my ear. We continued up the path and headed towards everyone else. I could already tell that the girls knew what was going on.
What am I going to do? I can’t leave Rachel, but I have to do the tour. Maybe I should buy a house here in Pittsburgh and commute between my job and Rachel. She is only fifteen years old; I can’t ruin her life like that. She needs to go to high school and college. She has her whole life ahead of her, but I can tell she really loves me. Maybe I should just ask her what she wants, that would be the right thing to do. I’m so confused I should just ask the guys. Look at the guys they already know what happened. News travels fast.
Chapter 8
“How about we have a huge sleepover?” Masha suggested once Louis and I made to the picnic area. “My house?” I suggested. “I have a couple of extra rooms!” I continued. “Why don’t we just have the sleepover in the living room?” Kavya suggested. “You’re grandparents are going to be home! That’s awkward!” Emilie said. Ashley butted in “I got it! Boys hotel room?” We all nodded in agreement and Harry called the hotel letting them know that they will be having guests. “We need to stop by our houses to grab clothing and everything we need.” Emilie and Kavya said. Niall volunteered to drop all of us off at our own houses. “What are we going to do?” I asked. “Each one of us will pick up a girl and take her on a date.” Liam said winking at Louis. We all went into Niall’s car and he dropped us off at our houses.
Chapter 9
What am I going to do? I thought as Liam drove us to the hotel. I get to take Rachel out, but I need it to be perfect. What about the other guys? They probably know exactly where to go, I’m not good at this. “Zayn?” I turned to him. “What is it Lou?” he asked while he lit a cigarette. “Where are you taking Masha?” I asked. “I’m taking her to an indoor ice skating rink.” He said as he puffed out some smoke. “What about everyone else?” I asked looking around at the boys. “I’m taking Kavya as friends to the bowling alley.” Liam said as he put on a fresh new t-shirt. “I’m taking Emilie to Kennywood.” Harry said brushing his hair. “What’s Kennywood?” Zayn asked while he put out his cigarette. “An amusement park, I found it in the tour book.” Harry replied. Niall walked in and said “Every girl is at their house and I told them they will be picked up around five in the afternoon. Niall went into the bathroom to shave. “Nialler where are you taking Ashley?” I asked. “I’m taking her out to an Italian dinner. She loves food and I love food it’s perfect.” He said peeking out of the bathroom with shaving cream on his face.
“Louis how about you tell us know what happened between you and Rachel at the park?” Harry said throwing a pillow at me. I told them about our walk and how Rachel expressed herself. I told them about her perfect lips and her beautiful brown eyes. Just thinking about her gives me goosebumps. Then I had an idea and I called Rachel.
“Hello, this is Rachel how may I help you?” I said when I picked up the phone. “This is going to sound really weird but trust me. What is your father’s phone number?” Louis said from the other line. I gave Louis my father’s number and asked him what to wear. He told me I should wear jeans, boots, and a shirt with a sweater on top. All the girls were on skype on a group chat when I walked in I heard “Rachel! How dare you keep Louis for yourself! Tell us what happened.” Masha said. “Ya, tell us!” Ashley joined in. “I was looking for a curler, did I miss something?” Kavya said as she sat down on her chair. “Rachel was about to tell us how Louis swept her off her feet today.” Emilie said sticking her tongue out. “Okay fine I’ll tell you but quickly because I need to get ready.” I said blushing. “Wait why do you want to know what happened to me?” I said. “Because you never had a boyfriend before! Duh!” Masha replied. “Tell us your story!” Kavya and Emilie said in unison. I told them about how gentle Louis was and how his hair shined in the fall sunlight. I told them about his tender soft hands that fit perfectly with mine. I told them about how perfect the kiss was and how perfect his lips were. I finished my story and started to get ready for my date. I was very nervous since I have never been on a date before and I started to shake. I realized that everyone gets nervous and that I should calm down. I took a shower and changed my clothing. I braided my short hair, but didn’t like it so I decided to go with two ponytails. I heard a knock at my door and my grandma yelled in Russian for me to come downstairs.
Chapter 10
Louis blindfolded me and I had no clue where we were going. He kept telling me that everything is alright and that we will both be fine. He turned on the 90’s radio and started to sing along to “The One” by the Backstreet Boys. His voice was so soothing and wonderful; I wish I could fall asleep to it every night. “We are here!” He said. He parked the car and opened my door. He reached into the car and carefully took off the blindfold and helped me out of the car.
“Turn around.” I told Rachel and she did just that. The look on her face melted my heart; you could tell that this place meant the world to her. She turned around to face me and got on her tiptoes and kissed my cheek. “Thank you so much Louis.” She told me. “This isn’t all!” I said as I grabbed her hand. I felt very confident and was very excited to start this date. To be honest I was very nervous but if it continues like this I’ll be fine. She spotted two horses and I could feel her getting excited so I let go of her hand and she ran up to the horses. She held out her hand and had them sniff it. She then patted their heads and kissed their noses. “Well what are you waiting for?” I said as I walked up to her. I helped her get on the chestnut gelding and I got on the pinto that was beside her. She was smiling from ear to ear and it made me happy that I was the cause of that. We rode our horses to the apple orchard and grabbed some apples from the branches and ate. We continued to the sunflower patch and we got off our horses. I picked a bouquet of the sunflowers and gave them to Rachel. I had no idea they were her favorite. We sat down and we watched the sunset. I looked over at her and saw the shadow of her face. She looked so beautiful in the sunset. I wish I could just sit here forever with her. A breeze went by and I gave her my jacket as she slid closer to me. I could feel her heart beat and it was wonderful, at that moment I felt more connected to her than I have ever before with anyone else. She fell asleep in my arms and I carried her to the car. I thanked the owners of Simmons Farm for letting me bring Rachel here and returned the horses. I got into the driver’s seat and we were on our way to her house.
Chapter 11
I woke up the next day in the hospital. I didn’t know what happened and started to panic. The first thought I had was “Where is Louis?” I got really scared, I hated doctors and hospitals. My doctor came in and told me I needed to calm down. I looked beside me and saw the bouquet of sun flowers Louis gave me. I started to cry. I wanted him to be alive, and there was nothing I wanted more in my life.
Chapter 12
Next thing I knew I fell asleep. I must have been on some kind of medication. When I opened my eyes I was hoping to see Louis but standing over me were my friends. “Rach, how are you feeling?” Masha asked with a look of concern on her face. Kavya was holding a blue bear while Emilie held a balloon. Ashley brought me some candy, but my doctor took them away before they could get in my hands. They all started to ask questions, but I wasn’t paying attention. “Rachel, are you listening?” Ashley asked waving her hand in front of my face. “Not really.” I replied as I sighed. “She must be thinking of Louis.” Emilie said looking at my friends. “Is he okay? Is he hurt? Where is he?” I quickly asked. “Now she pays attention to us.” Kavya said laughing. “He is in the room next to you resting. Do you want to visit?” Emilie asked. She is so sweet; she always knew what I was thinking about.
“Where is Rachel?” Louis screamed as he tried to get up from his hospital bed. “Calm down mate.” Harry said pushing him down. “Where is she? Is she dead? It’s my entire fault.” He said as he started to sob into his hands. “Lou, she is alive. Do you want to do visit?” “What kind of question is that? Of course I want to visit!” Louis yelled at Harry. Liam heard him yell and ran into the room with Niall following behind. Liam and Harry helped Louis get up while Niall ate his Doritos.
Chapter 13
I was on my way to Louis’s room.
I was on my way to Rachel’s room.
I missed him so much, I hope he is okay. I just want to see him, to feel his touch, to see his gorgeous blue eyes just one more time.
I longed for her kiss. I just wanted to hold her in my arms and tell her that everything is okay. I just want to show her my love. I hope she is okay.
Next thing I knew I bumped into someone.

Chapter 14
I opened my eyes and saw Louis. He was the one I bumped into. He got up and helped me up. I wrapped my arms around him and cried. He is alive. I thought I lost him forever, but he is standing right here. I couldn’t believe it. I wanted to feel his body against mine just one more time, and now I can feel his heart beat more than once. It was a dream.
I hugged her as tightly as I could. I didn’t want to let her go. I almost lost her once; I was definitely not going to lose her again. I listened to her sobs and shed a tear knowing that she was crying because she was happy I was alive. I have never been so connected to someone. I thought this was just a fling, but she is the one, the one that will love me no matter what and embrace me for who I am. The one that will make me smile after a bad day, the one that is meant to be with me for the rest of my life. I knew I had to keep her with me so I had a plan.
